So this morning I woke up at 5:30 and quickly put on my running outfit, prepared my pre-run breakfast and coffee, caught up on the news a little bit and headed out for an 8 mile run. The plan was to meet Rosangela at her apartment complex at mile 2 for a breezy beach run. Unfortunately, she had an achy throat so she stayed home and I ran solo.
My run felt awesome! Other than running through a flooded street and completely soaking my shoes in the process (I am stubborn like that—there were no alternate route and I just wanted to get to the beach!), getting splashed by a car (I laughed! It was fun and refreshing) and fighting through fatigue for the second half of the run, I really loved it. Per my new running resolution, I made sure to check in with myself throughout the run and continue only if I felt good. My only major issue was fatigue. I figured that as long as my UC wasn’t flaring, I could keep going, albeit at a slower pace. Honestly, it was such a beautiful morning that there was no way I was turning around. I just HAD to do a portion of the run by the beach!
At the half way point, I was wondering how I was going to run back home when I got a nice boost of energy looking at this:
A quick stop at Starbucks to hydrate and multiple walking breaks later, I was home. 7.5 miles. My Garmin died so I have no idea what my pace was and don’t really care to know either. That will do for this week’s long run!
I’m currently laying in bed and watching the new Lifetime movie The Perfect Girlfriend. Maybe my next blog post should be a review of this movie. The plan was to do some weight lifting while watching the movie, but I took a deep short nap and I realized upon waking that I was way too tired to contemplate any more exercise today. The explanation for my sleepiness is obvious: we had dinner last night at my parents’ house. Since dinner with my parents usually means a late night + a few glasses of wine, it’s no wonder the next day’s run will be a bit more challenging!
So if you’ll excuse me, I will log off now. It’s been a really tiring weekend so I’m aiming for a granny bedtime of 9 tonight to make up for last night’s excesses.
Have a nice Sunday evening everyone!
