Hello and welcome to the Visa Runner blog!
I’m Alexandra, a runner and aspiring marathoner living in South Florida with my boyfriend, Gavin.
I created the Visa Runner blog to document my training for the Miami Marathon on January 24, 2016. I have been running for several years but only began racing in 2014. Since then, I have completed two half marathons and several shorter races. Training for races is what really made me fall in love with running.
I am training with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America’s Team Challenge and my goal is to raise $2,000. This is personal to me as I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in April 2014. Crohn’s and colitis are chronic diseases that cause inflammation in the digestive tract and they have no cure. Living with UC can be challenging but I am determined not to let it take running away from me.
I’ve created a button so you can make a donation if you wish. Your donation will be used to fund research into a cure and to improve the quality of life of adults and children living with inflammatory bowel disease.
Running makes me hungry, so it’s no surprise that I am obsessed with food and cooking. Expect to see a lot of recipes on this site.
This blog is also a place for me to write about my other interests such as healthy living, cooking/nutrition, fitness, traveling, life in South Florida and anything else I feel the need to share with you.
So sit back, relax and enjoy the ride! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to leave a comment on the blog or to e-mail me at alexandra(at)visarunner(dot)org.
